Riley's 6th sense or human delusion?

Okay so as everyone knows Gracie's original due date is today. Although we are both incredibly anxious, we are trying so hard not to get our hopes up as the real due date is next Thursday. That said, I feel like I am going nuts!!!!! Everywhere I look I see some combination of 9/14. Does this mean she will come to meet us today, or that she will be born at 9:14 (am or pm?) or nothing at all? Am I seeing these numbers everywhere because I want to see them? Am I crazy?!?!?! I feel like Christmas is just around the corner, but it will never come; like I am gonna get a raise, but I don't know when. Every year when I was little I would sneak into our living room on Christmas morning before anyone was up to see what Santa brought for me. When I get Megan a gift, I give it to her right when I purchase it, irrespective of the celebration date. The bottom line is I cannot take the suspense, with every buzz of my phone, twitch in my skin, and email I receive, I think - Is this it?

So now that you know I am crazy, something really odd happened this morning. We got up and went through the normal routine. I didn't notice at first but as soon as Riley came back in from going to the bathroom, she ran straight into our bathroom and laid at Megan's feet. Usually she hangs out with me in the kitchen. She really never left Megan's side all morning. We put them in their kennels as we always do before we leave. Then, Riley started frantically barking like something there was something severely wrong. We stopped and listened, waited, and it continued without pause. So I went back in to let her out thinking maybe she was thirsty; I had no idea. When I let her out, she ran straight to Megan who was sitting in the kitchen and just stared at her; she wanted up on her lap. As Megan cannot bend over I tried to pick her up, but she wanted nothing to do with me - she circled the stool and reassumed her position in front of Megan staring and barking. I have never seen her do anything like this, ever. Once she was in Megan's lap, she calmed down, but was still staring at her. After a few minutes of this, I put her back into her kennel. The frantic barking resumed. By this point Spitz was involved - only to feel like she was part of the group, because she had no idea what was going on.

Now, we all know that Riley may be one of the smartest animals on the face of the earth, but could it be that she detected signs of labor? Again, in my current state if I see a random cloud in the sky, or a license plate from Alaska, it could mean labor is imminent, so I searched for cases like this on the internet. To my surprise dogs can sense labor. So, we will see if Riley's craziness this morning means anything. If not, you will likely find me in some nut house locked in a padded room!

On a completely separate note, my new deep fryer is arriving today and I am making chimichangas tonight! WOO HOO!!!!

Just so you know, I don't think you're crazy! I totally believe in signs and it sounds like they are everywhere. Dogs totally have a 6th sense so it sounds like Riley may be on to something :) we can only hope! Keep us posted! I am so freaking excited!

Ted, you crack me up!!! I love how excited and anxious you are. I don't think you are crazy at all:). Type A personalities tend to over analyze everything. Gracie will come soon enough, but I hope Riley's instincts are correct!! I always knew she was an awesome dog! Keep us posted with Mommy and Gracie. We better know when it really comes!!
