Finally - The Kitchen is DONE!

So when I began this project, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Five weeks, multiple cuts and bruises, several shocks (electrical) and a couple of arguments later, I have to say (and I am not one to brag), but I did one hell of a job! I spent the past five weeks inside of our house, working - all the time. Every day after work, 14 hours a day on Saturdays and Sundays - I am talking back breaking, long, hard, work. I did all of it. The only thing I did not do was install the counter tops. I did the stripping, the sanding, the staining, the painting, the electrical, the lighting, the plumbing, the tiling, the grouting - all of it!

I do have to give Megan some credit before I get too far into this...She painted the island (the doors still aren't done), and she helped me paint the walls. Mostly though she pulled the line with taking care of Grace. I could not have done this without her. I was such a mess most days I could not even hold her. She had to leave with Grace multiple times because the fumes were so bad, or at least that is what she said, I was probably just no fun to be around.

I tell you, after spending such a long time doing something, you forget what it feels like to be normal, to have everything in its place, to have a clean house. We have been living in an absolute mess since before Valentine's Day. And when I say mess, I am talking about a construction site in the middle of your house. It was so bad at one point that I didn't know if I was going to have the mental strength to pull this off. If there is anyone out there that is thinking about stripping and restaining your cabinets, I would have said DONT, paint them!!! The process is awful, and it takes FOREVER! But, I kept telling myself that if we were going to do this, we were going to do it right. Well, we did it right, and we now have one sweet kitchen.

Just as a reminder, here is what it looked like before...

And here is our new kitchen!

I just want to let anyone who is curious know, that I am not for hire, regardless of compensation - I will never, ever, ever do this again. Also, ladies I am already taken so get your own husbands to do this for you.

WOW! Ted, it looks amazing! I can't wait to see it in person. Brian can relate, but only a little:). He stripped, sanded, and stained our master bathroom vanity as a "test" and said it was so terrible that he would never do the kitchen cabinets!
